The focus of the annual Bal d’Argent is a grand ball which includes medieval and renaissance dances. These are mostly social dances which anyone can join in, with some competitions and perhaps displays (dances, music, singing and/or other arts & sciences). See this page for Guild competitions (Serifs & Breve).
The ball is usually preceeded by an afternoon of dance classes at various levels.
Besides the dance classes and the Ball itself, a meeting of the members of the guild is held to discuss issues relevant to the guild. Topics usually include:
- New candidates for membership
- Competitions for dancers & musicians for the following year’s Bal
- Election of Guild Officers for the following year (Secreatary, Webwright, Communications)
At some stage before or during the Grand Ball new candidates are tested, and then during a break in the proceedings, new members of the guild are welcomed and the competition prizes are awarded.
